When viewing static or animated images using AWE, the wind speed and direction arrows displayed around the storm are adjusted to indicate the AWE wind speeds.
The following example shows Hurricane Wilma's trek across S. Florida. Note the lower sustained wind speed over land areas and higher values over water and exposed areas.
