"ExpertEase"
– Our
highly popular
ExpertEase…introduced last
year, will continue in 2014.
Please note that this
feature is ONLY available to
users who maintain the
current version of Hurrtrak
software. In order to
continue receiving these
updates, you must upgrade to
the 2014 software. For those
unfamiliar with this
feature, ExpertEase provides
a unique tool in your data
arsenal. On a daily basis,
our chief meteorologist
discusses via video
update, current tropical
conditions as well as what
is likely to occur in the
near term. His observations
are integrated within the
Hurrtrak program throughout
the Atlantic Hurricane
season. Exclusive to PC
Weather Products portfolio,
ExpertEase gives you
"inside" knowledge of the
factors and conditions
affecting the path and
strength of active tropical
storms and/or the tropical
season in general. Remember,
it is available to all users
with current Hurrtrak
software installed.
Current Weather Observations
& Depiction
–
A significant 2014
enhancement is the ability
of users to examine current
observations for all
official weather stations,
NOAA operated coastal
stations, Buoys, Oil Rigs,
Ship Reports and observed
storm reports (over 5000
stations). Data includes
Wind Speeds, Wave Heights,
Pressure, Ocean
Temperatures, Air
Temperature, Dew Points and
Local Storm Reports. This is
presented in a user friendly
format including the
depiction of current
tropical cyclones /
formation alert areas and
the ability to plot
graphically or produce
reports on the parameters
listed above.
Sample uses of this feature
include:
• Comparison of forecast vs
actual developing conditions
• Easy, quick displays of
smaller scale events away
from the storm’s circulation
(i.e. feeder bands)
• Real time, multiple source
on-site reports, indicating
storm effects on the ground
• The ability to view local
(or worldwide) weather
observations, even without
active tropical storms
• Depiction of formation
"alert" areas.
Enhanced Tide Information
and Display
- The system now makes
extensive use of
astronomical tide
information. Tide data for
“coastal” locations is
included and optionally
graphed on selected impact
reports. It is also
described in text on the
narrative impact statement.
The tide graph, including
the tidal harmonic, is
superimposed on the wind
speed graph to help
determine the effects of
tide heights during the
period of highest winds.
Enhanced/Extended Rainfall
forecast
- Rainfall forecasts have
been significantly enhanced
by improving both the
forecast period and
resolution. Our system now
shows rainfall estimates
with 10X increased detail,
as well as a forecast for up
to 7 days! In addition, we
are able to determine the
rainfall forecast for a
specific location. All this
is represented in both the
system graphics and impact
reports.
Enhancements to
Reconnaissance and Model
Plot functions
- The system makes use of
popup type windows to
display Hurricane Hunter
Reconnaissance information
as well as Forecast Model
data.
Excel export enhancements
–
Excel export now includes
more detailed rainfall
information as well as tide
data.
Risk Impact Summary Reports –
Automatic and
manual Risk Impact Reports
now include tidal data in
both report and graphical
(tide harmonics) form. There
is also a new “graph only”
risk impact report
Narrative Impact Description
- The
narrative now includes
commentary on the
astronomical tide heights as
it relates to the period of
highest storm winds for the
analyzed location(s).
SLOSH/Storm Surge
improvements
–
SLOSH basins which have
been updated are rolled into
the 2014 release. As
of mid March, 2014 this
includes the following
basins...
Lake Okeechobee
. Much
more detail along with
software improvements have
made the Storm Surge program
easier to use.
Enhanced EMail Alerts –
The EMail Alert condition
for rainfall is now based on
a 5 day total rainfall
instead of 3.
System Appearance –
We have added
a few more themes/skins to
give the application a
custom appearance.
